Bubble Hydrangeas Art
This is a super quick and easy, yet effective craft which is perfect for a grey and drizzly April day, where you can share some creative time with your little one. Why not take a mini nature walk out to your nearest woodland area or park and find some fallen leaves to add to your creations to make them even more realistic?! We couldn’t resist sharing this easy yet fun craft with you after we discovered it on Ananda’s page A Piece of Rainbow! Do follow this link to see her page!
What you’ll need:
A shallow dish or container that you don’t mind getting a bit messy
A mixing brush or spoon to mix the paint mixture
Non-toxic washing-up liquid
Non-toxic acrylic paint
A straw
Plain paper or card for the background
Green paper or card/fallen leaves from your garden or local park
Scissors
A glue stick or double sided tape
Instructions:
Add 1-part paint, 1-part washing-up liquid to the dish/container, gradually add 2-3 parts water and mix together.
Using the straw, blow some air into the mixture, bubbles will begin to form on the surface!
Once a nice set of bubbles has formed, press your paper/card against the bubbles, being careful not to let it touch the paint mixture below or the sides of the container.
Repeat this multiple times across your paper, why not try different colours and sizes of bubble clumps too to add variety?!
Select your favourite fallen leaves that you have gathered, or cut your green paper/card into leaf shapes and attach them to your bubble hydrangea flowers using a glue stick or double-sided tape.
If you and your little one are feeling extra creative, why not paint your leaves, stems and extra details on using watercolour paints and felt-tip pens just like Ananda has in hers!
This activity is wonderful for all ages, as it allows for some fun, messy play for little ones and also for the more creative and artistic side of older children. A great all-rounder that you can make together and doesn’t require too much preparation time!
Happy Bubble Making!
