Richmond Park
A stunning location for a day out with plenty to explore for the whole family. There are cafe’s available for a tea break and easy paths to navigate. Richmond park is the largest of London’s Royal parks, approximately 2500 acres and it goes as far back as the 17th century when it was created as a deer park, which it still is today. We love a stroll through the park spotting deer, you can see herds of deer with fawns and huge stags with impressive antlers. The park has protected status as it’s an incredibly important habitat for wildlife. It’s also s a National Nature Reserve, London's largest Site of Special Scientific Interest and a European Special Area of Conservation.
There is a really good visitors centre which provides information regarding the park and it also sells cards, postcards, nature guides, tea towels, mugs, stationery items, adult and children’s nature books. For those feeling adventurous, why not explore the park on two wheels… there is a handy bike hire shop available near to the Roehampton gates during the summer months. The cycle path is family friendly and you can do a circular route of the whole park. And remember to keep your eyes peeled and not only for the amazing wildlife here but because if you’re lucky you may also spot Sir Richard Attenborough, as this is one of his favourite places.
