Wetland Centre
Located in Barnes, the London Wetland Centre is the UK’s leading wetland conservation charity. With incredible wetlands full of sights and sounds of nature, this is the perfect place to be immersed in nature and wildlife. If you’re lucky on the day you might even spot a Demoiselle crane.
There are lakes, pools and gardens, all home to a huge variety of wildlife including kingfishers, sand martins, wading birds and plenty more.
It’s a wonderful day out for families with children of all ages, especially those with budding mini-Attenborough’s as the bird spotting here is incredible. There are also otters, geese and some pink flamingos made from Lego bricks.
There is a restaurant and a shop on site too for gifts, books, toys and bird care products. It’s well worth a visit. You can join to become a member but this isn’t essential and if you prefer you can pre-book your tickets online before you go. Under 4’s go free.
